The Superstition Mountains rise in the Sonoran Desert east of Phoenix. Steeped in history and folklore, they lure visitors from around the world to explore the history and romance of the old West.

Most of the land surrounding the Superstitions is owned by the Arizona state land department, whose mandate is to manage the land to fund various public institutions. As urban sprawl creeps eastward from the Phoenix suburbs, pressure to develop more state land increases.

Superstition Area Land Trust (SALT) wants to preserve the sensitive areas of this treasure trove of vanishing desert for future generations.
